InvestConsult Group is a law firm established by the Lawyer, Scholar Mr. Nguyen Tran Bat in 1989. We provide a wide range of services including: Business and Investment consultancy; Intellectual Property; Legal. For 35 years operating, we has always been in the forefront of the field. Our services facilitate both local and foreign enterprises throughout their process of business development. Today, we have developed to a group of companies: Business and Investment Consultancy Center; Intellectual Property Center; InvestConsult Legal Services Co., Ltd.

Our history
1987
The history of Investconsult is linked with the implementation of the “Doi moi” (Renovation) and inreasingly “Mo cua” (Open Door) policies of Vietnam.
In late 1980s, by observing and studying changes in the world, Mr Nguyen Tran Bat has found that Vietnam was under the pressure of openning the country. He knew that businessman from western countries who wanted to enter Vietnam market should need a bridge linking the transfering economy of Vietnam with developed ones.
Since then, he hatched the idea of establishing a professional investment consulting company. In 1987, he launched his career by initiating the establishment of an office to promote IPR protection activities under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
1989
In 1989, Mr. Bat left the Ministry of Science & Technology and established his own company Investment Consulting and Technology Transfer Company (InvestConsult), one of the first four companies licensed by the Government to operate in the field of investment consulting.
In 1992, after the Company Law was issued in Vietnam, Mr. Bat changed the InvesConsult into a limited company (InvestConsult Ltd.,)
1993
In 1993, InvestConsult has opened a branch in Ho Chi Minh City.
1994
In 1994, in order to facilitate the process of providing legal services to businesses, Mr. Nguyen Tran Bat established a company specializing in legal service, named Investconsult Legal Service Ltd.,
2000
In April 2000, Mr. Bat established the first private Research Institute in Vietnam, the InvestConsult Development Research Institute (IDRI), which covers three levels of research: business and services development, Vietnam development, and global development issues.
The Institute’s research works are published in internal journals such as the Science Monitor, the Finance and Corporate Monitor, The World Today and in domestic and foreign press and specialized journals.

founder
Mr. Nguyen Tran Bat (born in 1946 in Nghe An province) graduated from Hanoi Construction University in 1972 with a degree in Construction Engineering; in 1995 he earned his LL.B. degree from the Law Faculty of Hanoi National University.
From 1963-1966 Mr. Bat joined the army. After graduated from Hanoi Construction University, from 1972-1975 he joined the army the second time and served as a combat engineer with the task of buiding Ho Chi Minh Trail. After 1975 he held positions at the Institute for Transport Science Research (1976-1985), the State Committee for Capital Construction (1985), the National Office on Inventions under the Ministry of Science and Technology (1986-1989). In 1987, Mr. Bat started up an organization called the Bureau of Promotion and Development of Industrial Properties Activities (under the administration of the Ministry of Science and Technology), and served as Deputy Director.
In 1989, under the auspices of the Vietnam Academy of Sciences, he established the Investment Consulting and Technology Transfer Company (INVESTCONSULT), holding the position of President and General Director. This is one of the first four companies licensed by the Government to operate in the field of investment consulting. For 30 years, he has led the Company to become a group of leading professional consulting firms on Investment, Law and Intellectual Property in Vietnam (INVESTCONSULT GROUP).
As a successful businessman, a researcher and social activist, he is widely known in the international business community as Vietnam’s leading Senior Consultant in the fields of macroeconomic policy, economic development, investment, trade, finance and law. He was member of the Executive Board of the Association for Enterprises with Foreign Investment Capital; member of Hanoi Bar Associations; Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Industrial Property Association; member of Asian Patent Attorney Association (APAA); member of International Trademark Association (INTA); meber of EuroCham Vietnam; Arbitrator at Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC); member of the Executive Committee of Ha Noi Lawyers’ Association; Head of International Relations Department of Viet Nam Lawyers’ Association; member of the Committee of Economic Development of Australia (CEDA).
Mr. Bat was an well-known speaker at many important forums and seminars concerning Vietnamese development issues at home and abroad. He took deep interest in studying cultures, philosophy, social and economic issues. In 2000, Mr. Bat established the first private Research Institute in Vietnam, the InvestConsult Development Research Institute. Research focus of the Institute includes: strategic issues of Vietnam such as economic development, culture, international integration and professional fields of law, intellectual property, corporate governance, banking goods, finance; global development issues. He has participated in many interviews of newspapers and television; dialogue with many research organizations and agencies; talk with students at some universities. He has published hundreds of articles and published 11 books.
